Lake Leatherwood Watershed Assessment

A watershed assessment is underway at Lake Leatherwood City Park. The assessment will provide data and information needed to address a series of challenges we face with the 80-year-old lake. Attention will be given to the watershed of West Leatherwood Creek, the current condition of Lake Leatherwood, and public outreach that will focus on native fauna and the removal of invasive plant species.

In conjunction with the new Natural Resources Preservation Plan this work provides us with a framework to view and manage the many special ecosystems and natural habitats entrusted to the Eureka Springs Parks and Recreation Commission.

The watershed assessment is made possible in-part by a USDA Nonpoint Source (NPS) Management Program Grant administered by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture.
